Hidden Lake Campground in Alaska.
Hidden Lake Campground has 43 pull-in campsites, 10 additional self-contained campsites; tables and campfire rings; 5 bathrooms; 2 picnic shelters located on the waters edge; a very good concrete ramped boat launch; 5 hand operated water pumps for potable water; a campfire amphitheater with occasional ranger lead talks; and a dump station located at the entrance to the campground. Campsite run $10 per night and the boat launch is free. There is plenty of parking at the top of the hill for boat trailers and vehicles. One of my favorite aspects of this campground is the paved drives to keep dust to a minimum. Kids love all the big rocks for the great climbing as well as the trails for playing.

Getting to Hidden Lake Campground
Hidden Lake is best accessed via Skilak Lake Road, a narrow 2-lane gravel road that forms a 19-mile loop off the Sterling Highway between the towns of Cooper Landing and Sterling.
To get to Hidden Lake, take the Sterling Highway to the turnoff at milepost 59, Skilak Loop Road, and drive 3.5 miles past Jim’s Landing on the Kenai River. The road turns to gravel just past the turnoff for Jim’s Landing but is typically well maintained from about the memorial weekend through the summer. At mile 3.5 you come to a paved turnoff that takes you to the campground.

Fishing in Hidden Lake
Hidden Lake is a popular year-round fishery providing fair fishing for rainbows, lake trout, Dolly Varden and kokanee. In the winter, Hidden Lake is the place to be for ice fishing for lake once the ice is deemed safe. Most fishing is from a boat in the upper portion of the lake but the cove to the right of the campground has been a good producer both early and late in the summer camping season.
